Mallorca worker dies at Tirme, CO hits 100 ppm

A night-shift worker for Ilunion was found dead at Tirme’s facility in Palma, Mallorca, at 9pm on Tuesday. Ambulance crews and firefighters attended the scene. In the pre-sorting plant, they detected carbon monoxide (CO) at 100 parts per million (ppm), above the 50 ppm limit.

The pre-sorting plant has been closed as a precaution and will remain shut until the CO readings return to appropriate levels.

The CCOO union has called for an investigation into how and why the incident happened. It urged people not to speculate while the circumstances are established.
