Mallorca renters under 35 can apply for €250 rent aid
Young renters in Mallorca and across the Balearic Islands can apply for €250 a month towards their housing costs from Tuesday, 1 September. The scheme covers a rented home or room for people aged up to 35. Applications close on 30 September.
The payment is available for 2026 and 2027, with a ceiling of €6,000 per person over the two years. The Balearic Government's Directorate-General for Housing and Architecture is running the scheme, using €4.8 million in state funding.
The money can go towards 24 monthly rent payments, from 1 January 2026 to 31 December 2027. A full-home tenancy must cost no more than €900 a month; for a room, the limit is €450. The Balearic Government has asked the Ministry of Housing and Urban Agenda to raise those limits in future schemes to reflect the islands' rental market.
Applicants must be Spanish nationals or legally resident in Spain, hold a qualifying rental contract and be up to date with rent payments. Their annual income, or that of their household, cannot exceed three times the Iprem. They must not own a home, and cannot receive the ordinary rent allowance alongside this aid.
