Mallorca youth rent grant opens at 250 euros a month
Young people in Mallorca and across the Balearic Islands can apply for a youth rent grant from Tuesday 1 September. The Balearic Government’s Directorate General for Housing and Architecture is opening the scheme for 2026 and 2027. Applications close on 30 September.
The Bono Alquiler Joven, or youth rent grant, pays 250 euros a month per person towards rent. It can cover part of 24 monthly payments from 1 January 2026 to 31 December 2027, with a maximum of 6,000 euros over the two years.
Rent limits set at 900 euros
The grant is open to tenants renting a home for up to 900 euros a month. For a room, the ceiling is 450 euros a month.
The new round has a budget of 4.8 million euros from state funds. The Balearic Government has asked the Ministry of Housing and Urban Agenda to raise the rent limits in future schemes, saying this would allow more young people to qualify in light of the islands’ housing market.
Who can apply
Applicants must be aged up to 35 and either hold Spanish nationality or have regular residence in Spain. Their annual income, or that of their household, must not exceed three times the Iprem.
They must not own a home and must be up to date with rent payments. The youth rent grant cannot be combined with ordinary rent support, a rule intended to extend help to more people.
