Pirates Bay is a promenade meeting point with a character of its own — consistently pirate in its branding, relaxed and open in practice. The restaurant describes itself as family-run. If you are looking for somewhere in Cala Millor that simply works without explaining itself, the mix of Mediterranean food, good cocktails and sea views hits the mark.
Atmosphere
The terrace sits directly on the seafront promenade, the Mediterranean in full view, sea breeze included. In the evening, when the promenade settles into warmth and the lights come on, the spot feels far removed from the holiday hustle — more like a small refuge. Inside there is a proper bar; outside, space for families, couples and groups alike. No DJ set, no sun-bed operation: the atmosphere is laid-back, with shisha smoke and mojito glasses on the table as the evening stretches out.
Food & Drinks
Tapas come first — regulars describe them simply as “excellent”, and that is no routine holiday compliment. Beyond that: grilled prawns with garlic, grilled sea bream (dorada), seafood paella, spaghetti with prawns. The international side of the menu brings spareribs (awarded the title “possibly the best ribs”), burgers, steak, fish and chips, nachos and chicken nuggets for younger guests; vegetarian options are also on the menu. To finish: volcano cake with ice cream or a limoncello.
For drinks, mojitos lead the field — described more than once as “of the highest standard”, which is not a given at a tourist resort on the east coast. Sangria is also on the drinks list. Shisha is available, a rare extra for a restaurant of this kind. The price level is moderate, with no fine-dining ambitions whatsoever.
