From the wood-fired oven
The star of the show is the bread, baked in a wood-fired oven and widely regarded as exceptional. Equally celebrated are the ensaimadas — the classic Mallorcan yeasted pastries — available here with vanilla cream, plain, or filled with caramelised pumpkin. The bakery also stocks empanadas and "Cocas Trempó i Pebres Torrats". A house speciality is the long filled loaves, made to order in lengths of 80 cm, one metre, and up to a metre and a half. Everything is handmade, never industrially produced.
It pays to plan ahead
Ensaimadas are made to order — you'll need to place your request the day before. If you turn up without a reservation, your favourite pieces may well have already sold out. Bills here are still written out by hand.
A shop from another era
Can Salvador's look and feel has barely changed in decades. The interior and the way the place is run give it the atmosphere of a classic village shop — something increasingly rare to find. The family who run it are well known for the warm welcome they give every customer.
