Mallorca 0-3 childcare pay talks pushed by PSIB

PSIB is pushing for a legally backed bargaining table for staff in 0-3 childcare education in Palma, Mallorca. The party filed an amendment to the Capitality Law on Thursday, 17 September, aiming to open negotiations on a collective agreement for the sector. Employer groups and unions representing this stage of education would take part.

Amanda Fernàndez, a PSIB MP and candidate for president of the Consell de Mallorca, said the table should allow those involved to debate and agree the employment and pay conditions of staff. The proposal was discussed in advance with the Xarxa 0-3 network and the STEI, UGT and CCOO unions.

PSIB tried to pass a similar measure in Parliament two weeks ago, but PP, Vox and MÉS per Mallorca voted against it. The party is now seeking to secure the plan through the Capitality Law, with Fernàndez urging other parties to consider the sector’s demands and the quality of education for 0-3-year-olds.
