Palma hosts 17 Ironmans for child cancer research
Palma puts a 17-Ironman challenge for child cancer research in the spotlight on Tuesday. Athlete and musician Bernat Xavier Xamena presents Estrella 17 at 18.30 in the courtyard of the Consolat de Mar. Balearic president Marga Prohens is due to attend.
Xamena plans to cross Spain’s 17 autonomous communities in 17 days, completing 17 Ironmans. The challenge aims to raise the profile of child cancer research and collect money for new treatments.
The presentation supports the child cancer association L'Estrella de na Marta, with El Sueño de Vicky collaborating. A video titled Estrella 17 will be shown, followed by speeches from Xamena and L'Estrella de na Marta president Maria Isabel Polo. Prohens will then address those attending.
At about 19.30, Prohens is also scheduled to receive Mallorcan footballer Emilio Nsue López, who recently announced his retirement from professional football.
