Ibiza votes on site for 245 homes by Can Misses

Up to 245 protected homes and rental accommodation could be built beside Hospital Can Misses in Eivissa, Ibiza. Eivissa council is due to vote on Thursday on the final change of use for the Sa Joveria plot. The decision could allow the Balearic Health Service, IbSalut, to transfer the land to the Balearic Housing Institute, Ibavi.

Homes and staff accommodation

The plan combines publicly protected housing with rental accommodation for public-sector workers, plus other uses linked to healthcare.

The council says the scheme is intended to help health professionals and other public employees working in Eivissa who struggle to find a home. Eivissa residents would also be given priority when applying for the homes.

Five-year deadline for the plot

The land originally belonged to Eivissa council and was handed to IbSalut free of charge in April 2011. Councillors gave initial approval for the change on 26 March 2026 after the Health Ministry requested permission.

The plot must be put to its new use within five years. If that does not happen, or if the use is not maintained for the following 30 years, the land will return to Eivissa council.
