Mallorca port to clear 24 abandoned boats, 11 engines
Mallorca’s port at Colònia de Sant Jordi needs space: 24 small boats and 11 engines are set to be moved after the Balearic port authority PortsIB declared them abandoned. The boats and engines will be taken to the former Son Tous barracks for safekeeping. The Balearic Ministry of the Sea and Water Cycle says the move will free up room for port operations.
PortsIB began the abandonment procedure on 6 August 2026. It could not identify the owners, so it published the initial decision in Spain’s official state gazette and the Balearic official gazette on 13 August 2026. No one lodged an objection during the hearing period.
The boats and engines have no registration numbers or enough other details to identify their owners or agents. PortsIB will notify the Spanish government delegation in the Balearics and the relevant Guardia Civil office of its decision.
