Palma: prosecutors seek 11 years over five-hour abduction

A man accused of holding his partner against her will for about five hours in Palma faces an 11-year prison demand. Prosecutors say he assaulted and threatened her despite a restraining order. The Second Section of the Provincial Court of the Balearic Islands will hold a pre-trial hearing on Thursday at 10am.

According to the prosecution, the pair met in Palma on 26 December 2026. The man allegedly accused the woman of looking at another young man, pulled her hair and took her mobile phone before taking her to the former prison.

Prosecutors say he forced her into the abandoned building and threatened to tie her up while brandishing a box cutter. They allege he told her he was doing it to “correct” her and make her learn because she was his woman and would stay with him.

During the alleged captivity, the woman suffered blows, grabs to the neck, pushes, kicks, punches and attempted suffocation, prosecutors say. The prosecution is seeking 11 years in prison and €3,000 compensation over alleged breaches of the protection order, threats, abuse, degrading treatment and unlawful detention.
