Historical research volumes added to Palma public collections
The Real Academia Mallorquina de Estudios Históricos, Genealógicos y Heráldicos has handed its full set of annual research volumes to the Government of the Balearic Islands in Palma, Mallorca, on 22 August 2026. The historical research volumes will be available for free public consultation at the Can Sales library and the Archive of the Kingdom of Mallorca.
The academy supplied one copy of every volume in its annual series, which records historical research carried out by its members. Luisa Cotoner, the academy’s president, attended the handover with Jaume Bauzá, the Balearic minister for Tourism, Culture and Sports, and Antònia Maria Estarellas, minister for the Presidency, Coordination of Government Action and Local Cooperation.
The two receiving centres are overseen by the Directorate-General for Culture. The collection is intended to broaden their holdings for residents, researchers and future generations.
Founded in 1951, the academy researches Mallorcan genealogy and heraldry. Its publications include scholarly work on the island’s history and the preservation of its cultural heritage.
Pedro Vidal, secretary for Culture, Llorenç Perelló, director-general for Culture, and Carolina Guayta, director of Palma Public Library, also attended the event.
