75 storm call-outs across the Balearic Islands
A rain and wind storm prompted 75 emergency call-outs across the Balearic Islands by 06.00 on Friday. The Balearic Islands Emergency Coordination Centre recorded 31 incidents on Mallorca, while 13 cases remained open early in the morning.
Incidents reported across the islands
Mallorca’s incidents included seven in Manacor, six in Felanitx, and three each in Calvià and Sant Llorenç. Menorca recorded 27 call-outs, including 13 in Maó, six in Alaior and four in Es Castell.
Eivissa had 14 incidents, with six in Sant Josep and four in Santa Eulària, while Formentera recorded three.
Fallen trees were the main concern
Fallen trees accounted for 33 incidents, the largest category. Emergency teams also handled eight disruptions to essential services and seven cases involving detached urban infrastructure.
Other call-outs involved five obstacles or spills on roads, four risks from falling material, four drifting boats and two floods in buildings or businesses. Incidents also included flooding on public roads, traffic collisions, people in danger at sea and several types of fire.
Of the 13 cases still open, six concerned essential-service disruptions, four involved fallen trees, two related to detached urban elements and one was flooding at a business.
