Responsible for this content: Frank Menze

Mallorca hosts two days of addiction talks in Palma on 15 and 16 October, with trauma, mental health and digital life on the agenda. Proyecto Hombre Baleares is bringing psychologists, mental health professionals, social workers, journalists and addiction treatment specialists to Can Tàpera. The organisation says its fifth professional exchange event aims to help them share knowledge and work together on prevention, care and research.

Trauma and addiction

Clinical psychologist Arun S. Mansukhani opens the event with a talk on the links between trauma, attachment and addiction. A panel will then examine how different systems care for people with addictions, followed by a discussion of ethical journalism and responsible communication. Proyecto Hombre Baleares will present its awards for the second time at the end of the first day.

Digital life and mental health

Pedro Pedrero, chair of the treatment commission at the Proyecto Hombre Association, opens the second day. A panel will look at how digital environments affect behaviour and the challenges they pose for mental health and addiction. The programme also includes experiences from the perspectives of families and volunteers. Sociologist, social worker and sexologist Raúl Soriano will close the event with a talk on chemsex.
