Mallorca air base gets new commander on Friday

Miguel Ángel Arranz takes command of Son Sant Joan Air Base on Friday, replacing Colonel Carlos de Montemayor. De Montemayor has led the base since November 2024. He also headed Palma Air Sector, Ala 49 and RCC Balears, and served as military commander of Palma and Eivissa airports.

Llorenç Galmés, president of the Consell de Mallorca, met De Montemayor before his departure. Galmés thanked him for his work, availability and commitment to Mallorca, and wished him success in his next professional role.

The Consell president gave the colonel a replica of Pere Rossell’s 1447 portolan chart. The Consell de Mallorca acquired the original this year.

Marga Prohens, president of the Govern, also received De Montemayor at the Parliament.
