Air Europa reports more than eight million summer passengers, up 4.3% on the same period last year. The airline said on 14 October that new routes, more frequent flights and a larger fleet helped drive the increase. Its biggest jump came on routes to Africa, where passenger numbers rose 41% after flights between Madrid, Spain, and Johannesburg, South Africa, began in June.

New routes lift flights to Africa and across Spain

Air Europa also brought back summer flights to Tangier, Morocco, and ran more services to Tunis, Tunisia, and Marrakesh, Morocco.

On routes within mainland Spain, passenger numbers grew by more than 14% after the airline added Oviedo and Seville. Including flights to the islands, it sold almost 3.5 million seats for domestic travel.

European and long-haul flights grow

Passenger numbers on European routes rose by almost 5.6%. Air Europa added Geneva, Switzerland, brought back summer flights to Bologna and Alghero, Italy, and increased services to Rome and Milan to 21 flights a week for each city.

Long-haul flights carried more than 2.1 million passengers, nearly 3.8% more than in summer 2025. The airline added flights to Santo Domingo and Santiago de los Caballeros in the Dominican Republic. It now runs four flights a week to Guayaquil on a permanent basis.
