Mallorca hosts air traffic controllers’ 35-hour debate
On Mallorca, air traffic controllers meet in Palma from Tuesday to Friday, with a 35-hour working week and staffing on the agenda. Their union, the Unión Sindical de Controladores Aéreos (USCA), says representatives from different air traffic control units will gather at the Hotel GPRO Valparaíso Palace for its 38th national congress. They will review the sector and set the union’s priorities for 2027.
USCA president Lola Moreno opens the congress on Tuesday. The first session looks at how an accident can be reconstructed from different viewpoints. Representatives of pilots’ association Sepla, aviation safety agency AESA, air navigation company Enaire and USCA are due to take part.
Later talks cover staffing plans, the capacity of air navigation services and privately run control towers. The programme also includes training, workplace risks and collective bargaining, alongside the proposed 35-hour week. Delegations present their contributions on Friday, followed by votes and the close of the congress.
