Airbnb’s new trip map shows where friends stayed

Responsible for this content: Frank Menze

Airbnb is putting friends’ trips on a map: users will be able to see where their contacts stayed, what they booked and how they rated it. The company announced the changes on 30 September 2026, alongside artificial intelligence (AI) search that will start in the United States. The new features will arrive gradually, with some limited to particular markets at first.

A map of friends’ trips

The map will show places contacts have visited and destinations they plan to visit. Users will also be able to see their booked stays, experiences and services, read reviews, save favourite properties and send messages through the app.

Users can choose which trips appear, what details to share and who can see them. They will also be able to hide or delete trips and block contacts. A separate neighbourhood guide will draw on contributions from travellers and hosts, alongside other sources, to cover places to eat, activities and transport.

Search by voice or keyword

Airbnb’s new AI search will find stays, experiences and services from spoken requests or typed words. Users will also be able to enter keywords in search filters. Planned AI summaries will pick out key features of a property in search results, while a comparison tool will put saved properties side by side.

AI customer support by chat is already available in more than 50 languages. Airbnb also plans to add phone answers by voice.

Food delivery and help during a stay

Guests can already order food from local restaurants to their accommodation in some European cities. Airbnb plans to bring a shopping-delivery service previously offered in the United States to Europe too.

In some United States cities, guests will be able to arrange laundry collection and return. From November, Airbnb also plans baby-equipment rentals in more than 60 United States cities, including cots, pushchairs and highchairs, with delivery and assembly at the accommodation.

For hosts, Airbnb is adding tools to update several listings at once and suggest nightly prices based on daily supply and demand. The rollout will continue in stages; the company has not said that every service will be available in every market.
