Mallorca day centre: Alaró seeks operator for 2027
In Alaró, Mallorca, a new day centre is due to open in 2027: the town council is now seeking an operator. It announced the tender on Friday, 9 October 2026. The contract covers running the centre, adapted transport, meals and cleaning.
What the contract covers
The starting budget is more than €641,700 for the first two years. The council could then extend the contract twice, for one year each time. The planned team includes nurses, an occupational therapist, a physiotherapist, carers and a driver.
Bids will be judged on price, the proposed service and improvements to care. Those improvements include annual training for family carers, activities with people in the town and activities bringing different generations together. Councillor Andreu Homar, who oversees contracting, says the council has not handled this type of contract before.
What must happen before opening
Building work is nearly finished, but the council is still preparing the documents needed to formally take over the building. The day centre also needs accreditation from social services.
The council says choosing an operator could take time. It aims to complete the remaining steps for the building and the service while the tender runs. Mayor Llorenç Perelló says he wants to open the centre as soon as the administrative process allows.
