Alcúdia golf buggy crash: five minors face inquiry

Five minors are under investigation after a buggy crashed into a tree at a golf course in Alcúdia, Mallorca. Police say the group entered the site in the early hours of 4 September, took two buggies and damaged the course. One person involved needed medical treatment after the impact.

The Guardia Civil says the youths, wearing hoods and balaclavas, broke through several perimeter fences to get inside. They took the vehicles from an area beside the technical service hut, then went into the toilets and smashed a mirror and several pictures.

The buggies’ tyres also left numerous marks on the course surface, according to the force. One vehicle hit a tree and broke the axle of its front wheel. The group then used the second buggy to return to the point where they had entered before leaving the grounds.

Investigators from the Pollença-Alcúdia area found out from the local police that a young man had been treated nearby for an ankle injury. After he was summoned, he admitted the alleged damage and named the other people involved, the Guardia Civil said.

All five minors have now been identified and are being investigated on suspicion of causing criminal damage.
