Mallorca cathedral Mass honours Alonso Rodríguez
Palma, Mallorca: Bishop Sebastià Taltavull will lead a Mass for Saint Alonso Rodríguez at the Cathedral of Mallorca on Saturday at 19.00. The tribute begins at 18.00 with a prayer in the saint’s chapel at Montesión church in Palma, the Diocese of Mallorca says.
The Society of Jesus, known as the Jesuits, is organising other events in Palma. Its representatives will hold meetings with institutions to explain their work on Mallorca and strengthen ties with the diocesan church. They will also present work to catalogue Montesión’s historic and artistic heritage, linked to more than four centuries of Jesuit presence on the island.
Rodríguez spent more than 40 years at Montesión college. According to the diocese, he shared his faith by welcoming others, praying and serving people in everyday life.
