Mallorca's Consell: PP picks Amengual for mayor bid

Consell, Mallorca: José María Amengual is the People's Party (PP) choice to try to win back the mayor's office in the May 2027 local elections. The party announced his candidacy on 30 September 2026. Amengual says he will speak to people in the town and bring others into his team before setting out proposals.
He says winning the mayoralty would not be enough on its own: the PP wants to govern and tackle Consell's problems. Over the coming months, the party plans to widen its local base and build its programme around what people in the town need. Amengual wants a team and a clear plan ready for the election.
