Mallorca’s rent, food prices and public transport links could help shape an election manifesto: anyone can put forward ideas to Ara Més-Front Ampli through a QR code. Carme Gomila, the alliance’s lead candidate in the Balearics, presented the plan on Tuesday at Plaza Mayor in Palma, Mallorca, ahead of the 29 November general election.

The code opens a form where people can say what is going wrong and what they would change. The alliance says it takes five minutes to fill in, and proposals may be included in its manifesto. Gomila pointed to missing public transport connections, rising grocery prices and rents people cannot afford. She said the people dealing with those problems each day were best placed to identify what needed fixing.

The alliance has also begun meeting associations to develop proposals. On Tuesday it met Pimem to hear the concerns of small and medium-sized businesses. Gomila said housing, the way land is developed and the cost of living across the Balearics would be central to the manifesto.
