Mallorca archery trophy gets Balearic title push

Mallorca: a 28–27 vote in Palma, Mallorca, backs a bid to give the ‘Arc i Salut’ archery trophy official Balearic championship status. On 13 October 2026, the Parliament of the Balearic Islands asks the Balearic government to take the proposal to the Balearic Archery Federation. The vote does not itself award the title.

The proposal came from the socialist PSIB party after a tie in committee. The PP and unaffiliated lawmakers voted against it; the other groups voted in favour. Parliament also calls on the Spanish government and the Royal Spanish Archery Federation to include and regulate ‘Arc i Salut’ within 3D and field archery as a recognised tool for overall health.

Other proposals, from MÉS per Mallorca, failed. Lawmakers rejected an urgent plan for suitable temperatures and staff health at schools by 27 votes to 24, with four abstentions from Vox. They also rejected a call for better insulation, green or reflective roofs, solar panels, greener school grounds and less asphalt.

A separate proposal for regulated school transport fares failed by the same 27–24 margin, again with four Vox abstentions. It sought affordable price caps for school transport, separate from tourist-market rates.
