Mallorca's Ariany gets cycle routes and street upgrades
Mallorca's Ariany now has three completed projects: cycle routes, paved and signposted walking paths, and upgrades to three streets. On 14 October, Guillem Ginard, the Consell de Mallorca’s tourism chief, visited with Pedro Mas, its director of tourism governance and sustainability, to hear the town council’s proposals. Funding came from the Consorcio Bolsa de Alojamientos Turísticos (CBAT).
The cycle routes take riders through Ariany and its surroundings. The paved walking paths have signs to help people follow routes through the area and see its landscape.
On Atotxa, Forà and Dameto streets, the town has removed barriers to access, replaced drinking-water pipes and improved the streets’ appearance. The work aims to make daily life easier for residents as well as improve the town for visitors.
Mayor Joan Ribot welcomed the visit and stressed the need for funding for useful local projects. Ginard said the Mallorca Council wants to keep working with towns so tourism plans reflect their different needs.
