Mallorca housing row: Armengol targets PP and Vox
Mallorca’s housing row is now an election fight. In Palma, Mallorca, on Saturday, 3 October 2026, Francina Armengol urges the Balearic Socialists (PSIB-PSOE) to mobilise for the next election. Speaking at her party’s political council, she points to votes by the People’s Party (PP), Vox and Junts against housing decrees in Spain’s Congress.
Armengol accuses the PP of siding with “vulture funds and speculators”, while her party, she says, stands for people’s right to housing. She also attacks Balearic president Marga Prohens, accusing her of serving the funds and big business. Armengol argues that an earlier progressive Balearic government passed the islands’ first housing law.
The meeting launches the PSIB-PSOE’s sixth political conference. Armengol says it will produce a plan to address people’s concerns and help the party regain power in the Balearic Islands in 2027. She also attends a housing protest in Palma alongside other party members. Representatives of MÉS per Mallorca join the protest too, including its coordinator, Lluís Apesteguia.
