Mallorca tenders 12 public rental homes in Artà

Artà, Mallorca, is set for 12 public rental homes after the Balearic Housing Institute (Ibavi) put the €3.5 million construction contract out to tender on 27 September. The block will stand at Carrer Ciutat 67 on land supplied by Artà Town Hall under an agreement signed in November 2025. It will be the institute’s second rental development in the municipality, raising the number of homes it manages there from nine to 21.

The homes will be prioritised for people under 35 who have lived in Artà for at least 15 years, under the agreement with the town hall.

The plans include four one-bedroom homes, six with two bedrooms and two with three bedrooms. One home will be adapted for people with disabilities. The building will have a ground floor and two upper storeys, plus covered parking for 12 vehicles.

The scheme is part of the Govern’s housing drive, which aims to advance more than 1,800 public homes across the Balearics. It receives European Feder funding for 2021-2027 and has been given a fast-track procedure through its designation as an investment of regional interest. The shortened process is intended to reduce the time needed to process public housing projects and also applies to infrastructure such as schools and health centres.
