Palma football pitches get artificial turf reset
Palma’s municipal football pitches are getting an artificial turf reset before the new sports season. The Municipal Sports Institute, known as IME, begins the work on Monday, 21 September. Palma City Council says the annual programme follows the end of summer and prepares the playing surfaces for the season ahead.
A specialist machine will loosen and brush the rubber infill in the synthetic grass. It also aerates the surface and spreads the filling material back across the pitch.
The work is intended to keep the turf working properly, improve its condition and extend its usable life. The council says the routine maintenance helps provide suitable and safe conditions for sport during the season.
The programme forms part of wider planned maintenance and improvement work at Palma’s municipal sports facilities. A future refurbishment of the changing rooms at the city’s municipal football pitches is also planned.
