Mallorca athletes included in €1.5 million travel fund

Athletes from Mallorca, in Spain’s Balearic Islands, are covered by a €1.5 million travel fund approved by the Spanish cabinet on Tuesday, 27 October 2026. The fund also covers athletes from the Canary Islands, Ceuta and Melilla.
The money is part of a wider sports funding package. Spain’s Higher Sports Council is set to distribute around €18.2 million under two decrees. That includes €5 million for top-flight women’s football clubs’ costs, including travel to official competitions, and €1 million to help professionalise women’s basketball.
