Ayuso says Sánchez wants to split Spain, Balearics too
The Balearic Islands are part of Isabel Díaz Ayuso’s attack on Pedro Sánchez: she claims the prime minister wants to break up Spain. Speaking to People’s Party supporters at the Colón Market in València on Saturday 7 November, the president of the Community of Madrid accused him of seeking a republic made up of multiple nations.
Ayuso grouped the Balearics with Catalonia and the Valencian Community. She named the Basque Country and Navarre as another grouping, but gave no details of any Sánchez plan for the islands.
With Spain’s general election set for 29 November, Ayuso backed People’s Party leader Alberto Núñez Feijóo, saying he could bring different regional interests together. She appeared alongside Juanfran Pérez Llorca, president of the Valencian regional government and the regional People’s Party, and València mayor María José Catalá.
