The Balearic Islands record 6,741 arrivals by boat from 1 January to 15 October 2026 — up 10.4% on the same period last year. The people arrived on 372 boats, according to the Spanish Interior Ministry’s latest figures. Last year’s total at this point was 6,104. The count covers the Balearics as a whole, not Mallorca alone.

The rise contrasts with the picture across Spain. The ministry records 27,230 irregular arrivals nationwide, down 5.9% on the same period in 2025. That total does not include arrivals in Ceuta on 30 and 31 July.

The Canary Islands show a sharper fall: 8,970 people arrived there by boat by 15 October, down 33.5% on the same period last year.
