Balearic clubs get €370,000 for national league fees

Sports clubs on Mallorca and across the Balearic Islands can apply for a share of €370,000 to cover registration fees for national competitions in the 2026-2027 season. The scheme covers individual and team sports in senior national categories, plus the top national youth divisions in football and futsal. The Balearic Government announced the funding in Palma on 24 September.

The Department of Tourism, Culture and Sport has launched the scheme, approved by Jaume Bauzá and run by the Directorate General for Sport. It has set aside €320,000 for 2026 and €50,000 for 2027.

Two application deadlines

Clubs that paid registration fees between 1 June and 30 September 2026 have until 13 October 2026 to submit their application and supporting documents. For fees paid from 1 October 2026 to 31 May 2027, the deadline is 11 June 2027.

Applications must be filed online through the Autonomous Community administration’s electronic office. Bauzá said competing nationally brings extra costs for island clubs, and the funding is intended to ease the cost of registering and formalising their place in those leagues.

More support is planned

The Directorate General for Sport is also preparing a separate scheme for competition costs from the 2025-2026 season. It is due to cover compulsory contracted athletes’ pay, sporting licences, mutual funds and refereeing.

Before the end of the year, the government also plans to publish support for travel costs. That scheme is expected to include journeys to the Spanish mainland, the Canary Islands, Ceuta and Melilla, as well as overland travel outside the Balearic Islands.
