Balearic construction: 8% of GDP in plan talks
Construction accounts for 8 per cent of the Balearic Islands’ GDP: on Tuesday, 6 October, the regional government meets building, stone and metal businesses to help shape its 2027–2031 industry plan. Three sessions cover building materials and natural stone; metalworking and metal products; and construction and buildings. The sector’s share of the islands’ economy is above the 5.7 per cent figure for Spain as a whole.
Alfons Gómez, director general for industry and industrial estates, chairs the meetings. The Balearic Islands’ Department of Business, Self-Employment and Energy says companies will review the government’s assessment, set out what they need and help develop proposals for the plan.
Talks on recycling, waste recovery, water and energy follow on Thursday. A session on the nautical and maritime industry closes the meetings on Friday.
