The Balearic Islands account for 74 drone operations between June and August: Spain’s air traffic manager Enaire reports 23 in June, 23 in July and 28 in August. Enaire released the figures on 5 October. Across Spain, it handled 2,218 drone operations over the same three months.
Catalonia recorded the most operations, with 516, followed by Madrid with 451 and the Basque Country with 255. Enaire says the steady monthly figures show that drone use is becoming more established in Spain. It also says better planning tools are needed to help keep drones safely coordinated with crewed air traffic.
