Balearic home sales fall 14.3% to 1,211 in July
Home sales across the Balearics fall to 1,211 in July, down 14.3% on the same month a year earlier. The figure is 19.2% higher than in the previous month. Spain’s National Statistics Institute, the INE, published the figures.
Most sales are existing free-market homes
Free-market homes account for 1,200 of the July sales, while 11 involve protected housing. Existing homes make up 1,000 transactions, compared with 211 newly built properties.
There are 2,025 home transfers in total during July. Alongside sales, the tally includes 243 inheritances, 211 gifts and one property swap.
Land transfers add to the total
The Balearics records 3,563 transfers of urban properties during the month. These include 2,076 sales, 431 inheritances, 343 gifts, three swaps and 710 other transactions.
A further 923 rural properties change hands. The total includes 287 sales, 224 inheritances, 190 gifts, one swap and 221 other transactions.
