Mallorca and the rest of Spain’s Balearic Islands record 1,006 home sales in August — 3.8% fewer than a year earlier. Figures from Spain’s National Statistics Institute show that 992 sales involve homes on the open market and 14 involve officially protected homes. Of those sold, 176 are new homes and 830 are existing ones.
Sales are only part of the picture. Across the islands, 1,638 homes change hands in August. The total includes 214 inheritances, 133 gifts and two swaps.
