Balearic home sales fall 14.5%, prices stay Spain's highest

Mallorca and the rest of the Balearic Islands record 1,195 home sales in July 2026, down 14.5% on a year earlier. Yet the average price holds at €4,160 per square metre, the highest in Spain. The figures come from the Statistical Information Centre of Spain’s Notaries.

The number of mortgages taken out to buy homes in the Balearics also falls, down 9.1% to 614. Homes sold are larger on average, though: their average floor area rises 2.6% to 127 square metres.

The drop in sales extends across Spain. Nationwide, sales fall 11.1% to 65,395, with Extremadura the only region to record an increase. Unlike in the Balearics, Spain’s average price rises, up 7.7% to €2,112 per square metre.

The notaries say figures for the latest three months remain provisional until they have all the information used to compile them.
