Balearic inflation hits 4.4% as accommodation costs jump
Balearic inflation stands at 4.4% in August, with restaurant meals and accommodation services costing 8.2% more than a year earlier. Transport is up 5.3%, while housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels cost 5% more. Spain’s National Statistics Institute published the figures on Tuesday, 15 September.
Meals, stays and household bills lead rises
Food and non-alcoholic drinks are 3.2% dearer than in August 2025, while alcoholic drinks and tobacco are up 3.5%. Furniture and household goods rose 1.7%, healthcare 1.6%, information and communications 2.9%, and recreation, sport and culture 2.3%.
Education increased by 2.5%. Insurance and financial services rose 3.1%, while personal care, social protection and other goods and services climbed 3.7%. Clothing and footwear were the only listed category to fall, slipping 0.2%.
Spain’s inflation rate reaches 4.3%
Across Spain, annual consumer-price inflation stood at 4.3% in August. Core inflation fell to 2.9%.
Cantabria recorded the sharpest regional rise at 5.1%, followed by Galicia at 4.8%. Castilla y León, Castilla-La Mancha and Madrid each registered 4.7%, while the smallest increases were in the Canary Islands at 3.8% and in La Rioja and Asturias at 3.9%.
