Balearic insolvencies drop 21.3% to 74 firms
Seventy-four companies in the Balearic Islands entered formal insolvency proceedings by August, 21.3% fewer than in the same period of 2025. One Balearic firm entered the process in August alone. The figures come from Experian España’s Centre for Economic Studies.
Across Spain, 3,836 companies entered insolvency proceedings in the first eight months of the year, down 3.7% from nearly 4,000 a year earlier.
Trade sector records most cases
Wholesale and retail trade, along with vehicle repair, recorded the most insolvency cases nationwide: 871, down 12.9% on the same period last year. Construction followed with 564 cases, a fall of 8.1%.
Manufacturing ranked third with 506 proceedings, 6.6% fewer than a year earlier. Catalonia recorded the highest regional total at 944, followed by Madrid with 813 and the Valencian Community with 545.
Nearly 92,800 companies were created in Spain during the first eight months of the year, 9.4% more than in 2025. At the same time, around 45,500 businesses were dissolved, up 8.9%.
