Mallorca and the other Balearic Islands: the number of people in work reaches 708,700 from July to September, a record for those months. The third-quarter 2026 figure comes from Spain’s Labour Force Survey, cited on Tuesday, 27 October, by the Confederation of Business Associations of the Balearic Islands (CAEB). Unemployment stands at 4.6%, less than half Spain’s rate of 10.2%.

The islands have 6,800 fewer unemployed people than in the same quarter last year, a fall of 16.5%. The number of people in work has risen by 26,900.

But CAEB president Carmen Planas says high inflation remains the biggest concern. It is affecting businesses and the wider public, she says, even as the jobs figures improve.
