In the Balearic Islands, Spain, a deal puts Podemos candidates on Ara Més election lists as independents. Whether similar pacts will follow remains unclear as the deadline for registering lists approaches on Monday, 26 October.

Speaking in Madrid, Frente Amplio campaign spokesman Pablo Bustinduy did not say whether more agreements with Podemos were possible. He also declined to say how many constituencies Frente Amplio would contest in the general election. Registration closes that evening.

Frente Amplio has yet to name candidates for Congress in several provinces of Andalusia, as well as in Galicia, the Basque Country, Extremadura, Castilla-La Mancha and Castilla y León. Asked whether the coalition would stand in every province except Teruel, Bustinduy said its plans would become clear when the deadline passed. Chunta Aragonesista is not standing in Teruel, leaving the progressive field there to the PSOE.

Talks over election alliances ended on Friday, 23 October, with a split between Frente Amplio and Podemos. Frente Amplio kept its alliances with Chunta Aragonesista and Compromís. The Balearic agreement is in place, but the deadline will show where Frente Amplio fields candidates — not whether further deals with Podemos are coming.
