Balearic schools join 100-strong education network
Some Balearic schools will join Fundación Botín’s Educación Responsable network in the 2026-2027 school year, as 100 new centres enter the programme. Sixty are in Spain and 40 are in Latin America.
The scheme is for children and young people aged 3 to 16 and aims to build emotional, social and creative skills. Fundación Botín provides staff training, individual support and classroom materials based on literature, music, visual art and the plastic arts.
Since its 2006 pilot project and first call for schools in 2011, 1,061 centres have taken part, according to the foundation. It says the programme has reached 203,000 pupils and 20,100 teachers.
New material for classrooms
The programme is adding resources for 2026-2027. ReflejArte and Ta-chán, its visual-art activities, will draw on Solange Pessoa: Del día o de la noche, an exhibition at Centro Botín that opens in October.
The literature strand Lectura y Emociones adds a pre-school activity on autism spectrum disorder, based on a book by Alejandra González. Lectura, Emociones y Creatividad is also issuing new guides for primary and secondary schools.
All schools in the network will be able to use films in class through ProyectArte for the first time, following a pilot scheme. Developed with Platino Educa, it combines short films with guides and activities, ending with pupils making their own short film.
Foundation points to assessment results
More than 83% of teachers report significant improvements in pupils’ social and emotional skills, while creativity rose by 33%, the foundation said. The latest overall rating in Spain was 8.2 out of 10.
Fundación Botín is now carrying out its fourth psychological assessment of the programme in Spain and its first in Mexico. It is also conducting the eighth educational assessment of the Educación Responsable network for the 2025-2026 school year.
