Mallorca: Balearics plan €7,160 million spending cap
Mallorca is covered by a planned €7,160 million Balearic spending cap: President Marga Prohens announces the figure for the islands’ next budget on Tuesday, 20 October 2026. It is €598 million more than the current budget and €1,213 million above the cap in the previous parliamentary term.
The cap sets a limit before the regional government draws up its budget. The Balearic Ministry of Economy, Finance and Innovation has nearly finished its proposal, but the Governing Council must still approve it. If approved, it would be the highest cap in the islands’ history.
Prohens says the next budget will cover housing, public healthcare, education, social services, public transport, sustainability and water. She also defended her government’s record, saying tax cuts have saved people up to €1,500 million, while spending on public services has risen by €1,500 million over three years and public debt has fallen by €550 million. No date has been given for the council’s decision.
