Mallorca and the other Balearic Islands face a €7,160.88 million government spending cap for 2027: almost €600 million more than in 2025. The Balearic government's cabinet approved the limit on non-financial spending last Friday. On Tuesday, 27 October, vice-president and economy, finance and innovation minister Antoni Costa began explaining it to parliamentary representatives.

Costa first met Josep Castells of Més per Menorca, José María García of Unides Podem and sa Unió deputy Llorenç Córdoba. Talks with MÉS por Mallorca, Vox, PSIB and PP are due later this week, according to the Balearic Ministry of Economy, Finance and Innovation.

The cap is 9.11% higher than in 2025 and more than €1,200 million above the 2023 figure. The government plans for a zero deficit for the fourth year running. It also estimates that tax measures on housing and inheritance transfers, announced during the General Policy Debate, will reduce the tax burden by €55 million.
