Balearic start-up prize: €6,000 for the winner
A tech start-up in the Balearic Islands could win €6,000: applications for Spain’s EmprendeXXI awards are open until 22 January 2027. The competition began taking entries on 1 October from innovative technology firms based in Spain. The Balearic Islands’ Department of Economy, Finance and Innovation said on Tuesday that it is looking for businesses with room to grow and ideas that could change their sectors.
Each of Spain’s 17 autonomous communities will pick a winner at a DayOne Innovation Summit between February and April 2027. Each regional winner gets €6,000, plus training and access to an international support programme.
The national round follows in May. Nine challenges will each award €15,000 to one company, while the finalists will also get training and access to the support programme. Two further awards, for social impact and disruptive innovation, are worth €9,000 each.
The Balearic winner last time, Voltic Technologies, also won a national award for tourism and mobility. It develops wireless systems designed to cut energy use in hotels and other buildings without building work.
