Mallorca: Balearic start-ups fall 11.7% in July

The Balearics, including Mallorca, saw 354 new businesses formed in July, down 11.7% on the same month in 2025. The fall runs against Spain’s 2.2% rise in company creation. The National Statistics Institute published the figures on Thursday.

The islands recorded the fourth steepest drop in Spain, behind Cantabria, La Rioja and Extremadura. More than €4.372 million was subscribed to set up the 354 businesses, all of them private limited companies.

Closures and capital increases

July also brought the closure of 56 businesses in the Balearics. Fifty shut voluntarily, two ended after merging with other companies and four closed for other reasons.

Meanwhile, 59 companies increased their capital. One was a public limited company and the other 58 were private limited companies.
