Balearics: €1.9m funds up to 16 biomedical research posts

The Balearic Islands are putting €1.9 million into up to 16 biomedical and health research contracts. On 25 September, the Balearic Health Ministry opened its second training funding call for 2026 to 2030. It is aimed at researchers who do not yet hold a doctorate.

At least ten contracts will support predoctoral training in health research. A further six may go to clinical researchers in training, allowing them to combine patient care with research.

The number of clinical training contracts has risen from four in the previous call to six. Funding has also increased from €1.2 million in 2025 to €1.9 million in 2026.

The programme forms part of the Balearic Islands’ 2023-2027 health research and innovation strategy. The European Union will fund it in full through the Balearic FSE+ Programme 2020-2027, in line with priorities set by the Strategic Technologies for Europe Platform, known as STEP.
