Balearics boat registrations rise 15% to 687

The Balearics have added 687 new leisure-boat registrations by August, a 15% rise on the same period last year. The islands hold 15.7% of Spain’s market, the highest share of any region. The figures appear in the January-to-August 2026 market report from the National Association of Nautical Companies, based on records supplied by the Directorate General of the Merchant Marine.

Across Spain, 4,371 leisure boats were registered from January to August, compared with 4,084 in the same months of 2025. August alone brought 437 registrations, up 9.3% on August last year.

Bigger boats drive the sharpest rises

Registrations of boats between 12 and 16 metres climbed 39.3% to 156. Those longer than 16 metres rose 65.9% to 68.

Motorboats and charter market grow

Motorboats remained Spain’s biggest segment, with 1,889 registrations, up 15.5%. Jet skis edged up 1.4% to 1,269, while sailing boats rose 7.5% to 201.

The charter market recorded 1,401 registrations, a 10.1% increase. Charter boats between 12 and 16 metres rose 37.5% to 88, while registrations for charter boats over 16 metres doubled to 32.
