29 Balearics flights cancelled in UK fault

Twenty-nine flights linking the Balearic Islands were cancelled on Tuesday after a technical fault in UK air traffic control. Spanish airport operator Aena reported the cancellations. By Wednesday, airports across the archipelago were back to normal, Aena said.

The fault led to more than 400 cancelled flights at major airports across the UK. Heathrow and Gatwick in London, along with Manchester and Birmingham, were among those affected.

Jersey, Aberdeen, Glasgow, Southampton, Belfast and Edinburgh also reported disruption to their operations, according to DPA. UK air traffic control operator NATS said its system began to recover during Tuesday afternoon.
