850 join Balearics training briefings as Palma hosts session

Around 850 people involved in vocational training have taken part in a series of briefings across the Balearic Islands on workplace training for the 2026-2027 school year. One session was held in Palma, Mallorca, on Wednesday 9 September, with Maria Isabel Salas, director general for Vocational Training and Educational Planning, attending.

The sessions cover Fempo, the official scheme for training in companies or equivalent organisations. They are aimed at scheme coordinators, tutors, school leadership teams and inspectors at vocational-training centres. The Balearic government's Department of Education and Universities said the turnout showed schools wanted clarity on the new procedures and organisational changes.

Earlier meetings were held at IES Isidor Macabich in Eivissa and at CIFP Politècnic de Llevant in Manacor, Mallorca. The programme moves to CIFP Pau Casesnoves in Inca, Mallorca, on Thursday, before a Friday session at the Territorial Directorate of Education's assembly hall on Menorca.

Demand has also prompted an extra session on 17 September at the Department of Education and Universities. It is for people who registered for the briefings but did not secure a place.

Running from 10.00 to 13.30, the meetings set out the rules and specific instructions governing Fempo in 2026-2027. They also give those running the scheme in Balearic schools a chance to raise questions and discuss the main changes.
