Mallorca beach bar plan faces PSIB objection in El Toro
A planned beach bar in El Toro, Mallorca, is facing a formal objection from the PSIB in Calvià. The party said on Wednesday, 23 September, that it will submit objections after residents raised concerns about direct access to the beach. They also fear the scheme could develop into a beach club, with areas of the shore later reserved for private sunloungers and parasols.
PSIB representatives met people living in the area on Tuesday to hear their views and discuss how they could work together. Socialist mayoral candidate Alfonso Rodríguez said PP and Vox should have held those talks themselves.
Rodríguez said the direct beach access served the developer's commercial interests and could affect the natural surroundings and the area's peace. He said the party would work with residents to defend the beach's current character and its natural setting.
At the next plenary meeting, PSIB council group spokeswoman Nati Francés will ask the governing team to set out its position on the project. She said it should make clear what kind of beach it wants to protect rather than allow the proposal to pass without scrutiny.
